JBS has reduced our Co2e by approx 80% since base year 2019. We think we are probably going to achieve about 90% reduction from 2019 base level by 2030 (ie net zero)

Re Scope 1 We are aiming to reduce to 70 tCo2e by end 2025, down from 214 tCO2e in 2019, by switching to Hybrids and HVO fuel. re Scope 2: We are aiming to reduce to 12 tCo2e by 2025, down from 562 tCO2e in 2019, by increasing Solar PV use

3.8 Describe the calculation methodology and comment on the data accuracy, including any tools/methods used to calculate.

We have a record of all fuel invoices (from Fuelcards) for eg scope 1 motor fuel for all vehicles-and so can see litrage and then use CO2e multiplier to calculate total Co2e. we have used same format excel sheet since 2019 and so can cross check and sense check easily. Our auditor checks as well. Similarly for energy - we have a limited number of suppliers and have their invoices and their KWh. We total the KWH and apply a CO2e multiplier depending on whether renewable electricity or natural gas as energy source

Yes

This is hard to acheive: We have switched to suppliers who use sea freight over air where timelines allow. We require all key suppliers to submit annual emissions data, aligned to GHG Protocol Scope 3 standards. We assess all supplier factories for energy efficiency, renewable energy use, and waste reduction. We give preference to partners who demonstrate year-on-year carbon reductions. We are also working to consolidate shipments, reduce packaging, and transition to lower-carbon materials across our product lines.

For each of the 6 categories within Scope 3 we can see and measure the units related to JSB: eg Business travel is either plane/train at X distance for Y staff on Z occasions. This distance has a CO2e multiplier (ideally given by the supplier, but failing that we use Chat GPT for the multiplier). Similarly we have supplier details as to the water or the waste we have consumed during the period. We apply a relevant CO2e multiplier against the total litrage or weight according to type (thus Recyclable waste a has low CO2e multiplier than mixed use waste that goes to eg waste2energy incineration vs that which goes to landfill. )

I dont believe that we can permanently out manoeuvre such climate risks - so we are more minded to be ready to adapt as each situation arises - as they do seem to every couple of years. ie Adapting in the moment, rather then seeking a path that will not have climate risks.

We are improving usually steadily. There are occasional set backs (eg when we bought a large amount of solar array - big cap ex and thus CO2e rise in short term). Each reduction is less certain going forward, as we have benefitted from all the easy wins at the start.
